Iodide copper

Cuprous iodide is a white or grayish-white powder, insoluble in water and ethanol, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, and also soluble in ethanol, propanol, methanol, glycerol, liquid alkali, potassium iodide and potassium cyanide solutions. It decomposes when it meets concentrated sulfuric acid and nitric acid. It decomposes easily and turns brownish-yellow when exposed to light. It reacts with sodium hydroxide to form cuprous oxide, sodium iodide and water. Cuprous iodide is commonly used as an organic reaction catalyst, an animal feed additive, etc.
