Sodium iodide

Sodium iodide is a colorless crystal or white crystalline powder, odorless, salty in taste, slightly bitter. It is hygroscopic in moist air and decomposes to turn brown. It is highly soluble in water and alcohol. Sodium iodide is used as a raw material for the preparation of inorganic and organic iodides and as a thyroid prevention and treatment agent in medicine, etc.
